@ChiBuildings We are hearing some sort of Asian restaurant, but not confirmed. permit says Dearborn Architects.— PDNA Chicago (@PDNAChicago) February 21, 2017
It's been over a year since we posted about Ma&I and the other tenants of 1234 S. Michigan closing up shop. At the time, the reader said the new owner was looking to demolish the building and turn it into a "more profitable/higher building".
Maybe that's still the case, but according to the tweet response from PDNA we're not so sure.
For those who remember, the building was home to the solid Asian restaurant Ma&I. While maybe not the most trendy or innovative Asian spot in the city, it was usually humming with activity and definitely served the neighborhood well.
We'll be curious to see what happens here.
