According to Our Count, Sloop Adds a Net 19 Businesses in 2014

2014 is behind us and with that said, it seems like a fitting time to put our final stamp on the annual Sloopin business counter.  Ever since we started it, the neighborhood has added more businesses than its lost.

In 2012, there were a net 25 businesses that opened in the neighborhood.  In 2013, there were a net 41 businesses that opened in the neighborhood.  And according to our records, 2014 saw a net 20 businesses opened in the neighborhood.

Before we put this to bed, are there anything openings or closings we've missed?  

While it might be premature to add the 4 businesses that burned down on last day of the year, they're definitely closed and their future status is definitely TBD.  

You may be wondering why we didn't include The Chicago Firehouse on this list (which similarly was badly damaged in a fire).  They've announced their intentions to rebuild and re-open, so we will give them the benefit of the doubt right now.
