I found out Joann's is coming to the sloop at Joffco Sq (where BBB and BB is) according to http://yournewjoann.com/, which is linked from Joann's offical facebook. It doesn't have a date yet, but I am excited!More positive news for the Roosevelt Retail Corridor...it's been a good week for shoppers in the Sloop.
(Hat tip: ML!)
It seems a bit strange for a JoAnne's to open in such close proximity to the Michaels that's over by the Whole Foods and Marshalls. I hope there are enough crafty people in the Sloop to support both (mega) businesses!
ReplyDeleteMichaels and Marshalls have completely different business models compared to JoAnnes. That being said, Not sure this is a great market for them. Columbia Students maybe.
ReplyDeleteI hope this doesnt push Out vogue fabrics which has been supplying my fabric needs and providing sewing lessons for years
ReplyDeleteTerrific! To the previous poster, it's not unusual to see Michael's and Jo-Ann's close to each other. They carry slightly different stock, so you'll find most crafters will visit and buy from both.
ReplyDeletePlus I've had issues with Michael's being out of stock of certain basic items and had to travel up to Fullerton corridor to the Jo-Ann's up there. This will be so much better.
I know what all of you sloopers are thinking...
ReplyDeleteHooray! let's have a craft fest!
LOL.
Is Jo-Ann moving into the space across from Bed, Bath, and Beyond? It makes since because Southgate Mall has Michael's, there is already a fabric store(Vogue)located on street level, Roosevelt Collection will not be a good fit, and the Maxwell Mall won't be ready for lease until
ReplyDelete2014.
Now Southgate Mall needs to find tenants to lease the space near DSW and the former Office Depot store.
wow-- who cares
ReplyDeleteWho knew we had this many grandmas in the neighborhood. You guys can stop off first at Whole Foods and your organic prune juice on the way to fulfill your yarn supply
ReplyDeleteAny new business is good for the area, esp big business filling up empty spaces. Sloop is getting its fair share of store the northside has. This leads to increase of prop value etc. I dont know why there are ppl who say negative stuff even the store are not one that they will necessary visit. I guess these ppl only are interested in bar and liqour store.
ReplyDeleteI too hope this doesn't make Vogue Fabrics go out of business! And btw, making things with your own hands (like knitting is sewing) in the era when all you do is sit in front of the computer all day is very satisfying.
