New Renderings of The Maxwell (photo courtesy of bondcompanies) |
Back in June we had a post about this development and some rumors on potential tenants. The list was pretty long (Banana Republic Outlet, Ulta 3, Chick Fil-a, Container Store, Ross, Pier 1, Dicks Sporting Goods, REI and Butcher Burger) and these latest renderings may shed some light on which ones might be true.
For instance, the renderings include Dicks, Chick Fil-a, Burlington Coat Factory, Nordstrom Rack and TJ Maxx. What to make of this? Don't hold your breath...we're still skeptical. We've seen developers include "potential" tenants in sales documents/renderings before and often it doesn't mean their confirmed.
In the meantime, the developers site (Bond Company) states the following:
With work underway, the Maxwell will be available for its first tenants in Spring 2014.
Anyone have thoughts or additional information?
Time will tell what happens with this one!
There is already a TJ Maxx/Marshall store in the Southgate Mall (which also have retail space available). Also this store along with Nordstrom Rack, Burlington Coat Factory, and Ulta have locations on State Street. How about the upper floors for Khols and/or Carson Pirie Scott stores. I hope there will be a chance for Ross Dress For Less, Container Store, and Banana Republic Outlet can still open locations in the south loop or downtown.
ReplyDeleteTJMaxx and Marshalls are similar, but they carry a slightly different product, so I think it's fine to have both, but I would rather have a HomeGoods, definitely a Kohls, and for sure Chick-fil-a!
ReplyDeleteI like Banana Republic and appreciate their outlet stores but certainly wouldn't expect them to open an outlet in the middle of a major city!
ReplyDeleteThat is one butt-ugly building.
ReplyDeleteNever. Gonna. Happen. Why build this when RC is still half empty and the vacancies are starting to pile up at south loop marketplace?
ReplyDeleteNote to retail and other businesses. Before you sign a lease with the Maxwell Mall, you should check out the retail space in the Southgate Mall, the building on Roosevelt and Clinton (there is space available inside across from Bed, Bath, and Beyond), and the closed street level stores on Roosevelt.
