The news came from our message board and recently a poster noted that a liquor license on the city of Chicago website has been granted to:

So there you have it, something new appears to be coming to the Northeast corner of 14th and Michigan. If it is indeed some Mediterranean we will be happy. Diverse options are what our neighborhood needs and falafel sounds really good right now!
Does anyone have additional information or thoughts on a Mediterranean place coming to this corner?

Looking forward to something new! Hopefully the rumors are true and these guys can bring some much needed experience to this location. No more pet projects.
Great to see this coming... hopefully the new tenant and the landlord will get along.
Hopefully it's Egyptian - I haven't had decent schwarma since the place in the loop disappeared!
I bet he will close within 6 months. Another inexperienced investor. Looked up the corporation and owner on the Internet, and zip, zero, nada in experience. Wish we had s few Lettuce-entertain-you affiliated restaurants, at least that way you knew they had long term backing.
Anon 7:50am - I'm with you, but this place will do very well if the schwarma is good (fingers crossed). Lettuce-Entertain-You, Boka, Harry Carry's type of restaurant groups will be opening up near Motor Row area as that area will be more of a River North type feel in 5 years (hotels, commercial buildings, entertainment type restaurants that cater to outside guests).
the south loop-- strangest, saddest resturants in the city
Just because a corporation is blank for history doesnt mean anything. Many smart people for legal and tax purposes put each investment into its own corporation.
If you look up the VP of the corporation (his name is Dan Sarkiss), you'll see he's the owner and executive chef of Zaytune in Bridgeport... so I'd say he has some experience.
I love how people pre-judge a new venture and pretty much hope that it fails before it even opens. Support your neighborhood and be positive. You should be happy that small businesses even want to open up and take the financial risk to do something in the South Loop. Trust me, the new owners know what they're doing.
I think a few dumb Anons hooked you with their trolling. I may be speaking for others as well, but I'm disappointed with a certain trend at this location and a few others, i.e. Ole Hardwood, for hurting the reputation of the Sloop with shady business practices. I wish all new businesses luck and keep my fingers crossed for solid plans & execution.
@ 3:01, i hope you are right! zaytune's in bridgeport is absolutely delicious...one of the best mediterranean eateries in chicago, the place is always packed. crossing my fingers this place does just as well.

Zaytune is BYOB correct? I am not sure how liquor license works, but it would be nice to have a middle-scale place with BYOB (like Triad) Zaytune is good, but still feels retail. We have Pita Heaven across the street, so I hope this will be more of a dark lit MED restaurant. It's hard to get the wife to go out to retail and sports spots all the time without heading to other neighborhoods.
Should we go fast before another one bites the dust?
