The iPhone 5 was all the rage these past couple of days and while their
sales numbers are absolutely redonkulous not everything has been smooth sailing for the newest god phone. The biggest issue is their new maps app which doesn't use Google Maps anymore. As a result, people are finding some odd things when they search around their city.
Our favorite is their weird, melted Buckingham Fountain:
What is being built next to the cta train station on roosevelt. They have already put in a foundation and the walls are going up. Anyone know what is going on?
ReplyDeleteDo you know the best Maps are created by a company called NAVTEQ right here in Chicago? Its part of Nokia.
ReplyDeleteApple CEO just apologized the world and suggested to use Nokia (NAVTEQ) maps.
A man using Apple Maps walks into a bar...or maybe a hotel. Or possibly a church.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the mapping accuracy is certainly in need of improvement I don't understand why people are complaining about the 'bumpy' fountain image. That is not a traditional 'birds-eye-view' or satellite photo, it's completely rendered vector art with texture mapping, which is 10x faster to show and manipulate than photographic imagery. Pretty impressive, actually.
ReplyDeleteWhat does this have to do with the South Loop? If you say the Roosevelt Collection, they aren't there yet.
