Good news! For those of us looking for some new food options, Artist's Cafe (1150 S. Wabash) is now open!
Has anyone been? We're eager to go, but haven't been yet.
It's nice to see some new life at night at this corner.

The place is really cute, and I'm sure the rest of the food is fine, but the croissant was inedible. Greasy, but not with butter; it tasted like a sponge soaked in Crisco or something. I didn't taste the cookies, but they looked grey and ancient. I'd suggest they get a new bakery supplier, or, gasp, bake their own pastries.
Love seeing new food options in the 'hood, but earlier in the week I saw on Everyblock that they failed part of a food inspection. Anyone know if it is a major part of the inspection or should I wait to visit the cafe?
Looks like they had to install a sink before they could open:

The place was absolutely amazing. One of the best gyros sandwiches I've ever had. Great service, great food and great value. I also had an fantastic expresso and their homemade chocolate chip cookies were to die for. I can't wait to go again. You guys rock!
