Digging at the Old Eco18 Empty Lot (Wabash & 18th)

Digging at the old Eco 18 lot (Wabash and 18th)
A reader writes:
There's some activity this week on the old Eco18 site at Wabash and 18th. They're digging out a bunch of dirt on the north side of the lot. Couldn't find any information on it other than the original party sold the land to someone else at some point.
Hmmm, that's perplexing.  Does anyone have a clue about what's going on there?

Clearly something is going on.  Hopefully it's something cool like a free community water park!  But we doubt that's the case.

  2. Last time I heard it was Euro Collision or Goodyear building an modern facility (like Firestone). They do not own the small sliver of land that runs between State and Wabash, so hopefully some type of retail comes in there.

  3. suprised nobody is talking about the huge tear down going on at 11th and canal.

Also, Alain's looks ready to go as does Square One.

  4. The other thing worth discussing is the work on the green line on the south side of Roosevelt - are they finally putting in an entrance? That would go a long way towards mitigating the jaywalking there.

  5. i agree with brendan. i go to the gym across the street and have been wondering what's up over there.

i heard a gap (or baby gap) is going in, but i sure hope that's not true.

  6. Josh, I'm exactly with you! Nothing on Chicago Journal nor Sloopin nor frankly anywhere but the CTA's website talks about it. A quick Google search gave me this: (stupid mobile browser won't let me paste the link) In summary, yes new entrance and exit. No timeframe for completion or renderings, but SO LONG overdue. ANYthing will be better than what was there.

  7. It would be awesome if it was something with a beer garden. So many nice days and no real place to have a cold one outside in our area.
