About a year ago we read that the apartment building at 1212 South Michigan was up for sale. Fast forward to today and it appears that Crescent Heights, the new owner, is renovating parts of the building (see above and below). Also of interest is that the building is being re-branded Park Michigan.
While we don't claim to be real estate experts, this seems like a smart move. While this building isn't state of the art like some of the newer towers to go up, it sits at a very very very prominent location (Roosevelt and Michigan) and must have amazing views. Good to see that the new owners are investing and upgrading in the building and the neighborhood!

Can we somehowe get them to cut the lease with the 24hour Subway.. what a joke of an entrance for the south loop.

ReplyDeleteAs a former resident, facing east on the 29th floor, I can confirm that the building has great views of Grant Park and the Lake. I watched Obama's acceptance speech from my window. That said, the building certainly is in need of a face-lift. Nice to hear that the new owners are going to give it a little TLC.
ReplyDeleteThere's a some sort of build-out happening on the first floor of the condo building at NW corner of 14th PLACE & Wabash in very early stages. Maybe someone else has more info? Hopefully not a hair salon.

ReplyDeleteAs a current resident of this building, management has told use that they also intend to lease the space to the west of the Subway. As they put it, it'll be a "service oriented" business. MarkChicago, you might get your hairsalon yet.

ReplyDeleteQuestion on Section 8 Housing - Are there approval or permit requirements, zoning changes, or some Chicago ordinance that provides information on the maximum amount of section-8 rental allowed in a building? What keeps a building owner from going all Section-8 without notification to rest of building or neighborhood?
