Confirmed: Five Guys Moving in at 1146 S Wabash

Back in August of last year an anonymous tipster alerted us that Five Guys was going to be moving into the old dilapidated building at 1146 South Wabash (just North of Bongo Room).  At the time we weren't sure and other people in the comment threads seemed to think otherwise.

Looks like this source is laughing now.  Yesterday we got a link to the five guys store locator and sure enough, it said coming soon just above the address 1146 South Wabash

What remains to be seen is whether or not other places (i.e. a cafe or other stores) will also occupy this building.

  1. Regardless of peoples stance on it being just another chain, or not being "healthy" enough; they make one darn good burger!! Great addition to the Sloop and can’t wait to grab a burger there!!

  6. This is great news, bringing more business to the area is positive. Especially one that typically carefully selects their location like Five Guys. Other than Hyde Park, all the other Chicago city locations are north of North Ave. This location will be the closest to the Loop. Hopefully bringing people to the area for their lunch break. If you don't like it....don't eat there!

  9. Honestly, the grass fed beef from whole foods makes a better burger than anything you'd find at Five Guys. It also is a lot healthier.

  10. this is good news

hopefully not too much of the train station and bus element will not ruin it as is common for anything on this corner

  11. I love Five Guys and most burger places, but it's always nicer to get it a little healthier (read: a little less unhealthy). I think Burger Point (19th & State) has pretty consistently excellent burgers made of grass fed beef, with a lot more variety in terms of how they're prepared. The only catch is that it's definitely a few bucks more than Five Guys and also takes a good 10-15 minutes typically for your order to be prepared.

  12. Flo & Santos has an excellent burger, completely clowns the Burger Point.

@Fit Guy, some of the most "fit" (your word, not mine) people I know gorge on some of the biggest meals since they work out all the time. I have never understood why you try to police people?

  13. Great news! Yes, there are some other places in South Loop to get a good burger, but this is a good quick, cheap, and delicious option. I'm usually not one to complain about other places, but Five Guys is also way better than Burger Point. Their burgers were overpriced and terrible.

  14. Quick question - are there 2 restaurants coming into this space?
