Congrats to Chef Ryan McCaskey and the crew at Acadia (1639 S. Wabash) for being ranked #8 in Chicago Magazine's 20 best new restaurant rankings. We've screamed its praise from our one visit and it seems like others have had similar experiences. For the blurb about Acadia here is the link.
Definitely some pretty impressive company and glad that the restaurant calls the Sloop home. Beyond the ranking, the restaurants beautiful "deconstructed lobster roll" was featured on the cover of the magazine:
Job well done and can't wait to come back!

Does the article mention all the moaning by sloopin followers over the price of the food.
ReplyDeleteHow dare an expensive resturant be expensive..
Even the little biscuit on top tastes wonderful. Congrats to Acadia!
ReplyDeleteAnon 8:08am I don't think there were that many who complained about the prices at Acadia on sloopin. I've seen complaints regarding Waffles. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have not seen it in the way you are stating it. I realize you are stating this as a fan of Acadia and being faceious, but I still wanted to make that clear. Again, maybe I missed it.
ReplyDeleteI recently tried to make a reservation for a group of 10 - called twice, and both times was assured that a manager would call me right back. None ever did. They've lost my business.
ReplyDeleteyeah you missed it...
ReplyDeletethe thread that was supposed to be about the resturant opening up turned into a nimby parade of "oh the portions are small and not worth the price, booo hooo"
research, THEN post.
WHEN I DRIVE BY THIS PLACE SOMETIMES IT is completely closed down at like 8 pm on a weekeday. I think his business is open when they actually have reservations and thats it
ReplyDeleteHow many high-end new restaurants opened in the last year?
ReplyDelete20?
who cares about acadia, you cant even read half the menu. Give me a steak and baked potato from firehouse anyday over that fu-fu place
ReplyDeletetechnically its a deconstructed lobster pie
ReplyDeletei am kind of fat for this place
ReplyDelete"firehouse anyday over that fu-fu place"
ReplyDeletefirehouse is way stuffier and more pretentious... and most importantly the food isn't anywhere near as good as Acadia
I love Acadia. Have gone there several times to just sit at the bar for a couple drinks...and amazing burger or lobster roll. Congrats to them!
ReplyDeletefirehouse steak = very average and way overpriced
ReplyDeleteAcadia is far and away the best thing to happen to the sloop in years. It has done more to attract positive attention to the hood than any other opening I can recently remember. More than that, it is damn good. I've eaten there 5 times and each was as consistently good as the first. Very happy the "hype" for the place continues.
ReplyDeletelobster rolls at the bar - BEST!
