America's Dog Coming to BP at Roosevelt and Wabash?

A reader writes:
Just spoke with a good friend of mine who has a few investments in the Sloop (Not Matt O'Malley)... His newest one: America's Dog going into the BP on Wabash and Roosevelt.
Interesting. We've been to a stand alone America's Dog store in Lincoln Park (2300 N. Lincoln) and figured that the stand alone model was their strategy for expansion.

Maybe they're being more aggressive now and looking at faster roll-outs?

We dont need a stupid hotdog stand inside the BP. Another way to serve the homeless who wander that corner of Dunkin and BP area. This is not a joke, I am a huge advocate for the area and this will not help. These guys can afford this type of food and will be hanging out there even more. Can we keep an eye on this as they have seating inside and this will really give them another excuse.

I'd love an America's Dog in the neighborhood, but the BP seems like a very odd choice of location.

Seriously, more fast food posts? You should change this blog from "sloopin" to "sloppin'"

Seriously people, have some respect for your bodies! Oh-- and for what its worth --the other reader was right, this place will be riddled with street people mashing hotdogs down with their 3 teeth

This is a good idea for american dog, they will get major foot traffic from people coming in to pay for gas and not to mention that for the bears home games people will be packing this place. Any type of new business is good business.

Also if your the type that worries so much about healthy eating and can't have a hot dog once every 3 months, then that's your decision stop trying to tell everyone to have respect for there bodies. People can live there live how that want to. Sloopin does not need you trying to consult everyone about what they eat!

Please Sloopy stop allowing posts from idiots like "Fitguy" to go through.

This is however a terrible idea for the area. As said before the bums will be circling the place even more than they already do. Not to mention all the trash from the red line. The business will thrive however.

Keep making excuses for your awful eating habits! Whatever makes you feel better I suppose

By the way-- learn how to spell please.

FitGuy sniffs his own wheat grass farts.

Anything that attracts more vagrants to BP is a probably a bad idea.

I am looking forward to the new cafe next to Bongo Room; also Square One wine/small plate place at 1400; the new italian place (former Grace O'Malleys), but was not happy that a 24 hour Subway took the corner of Roosevelt and Michigan (this should have never been allowed) and not excited about this, but I guess the BP did sell some type of microwavable food, so not a big deal after thinking about (but don't encourage them to sit there like they do outside that Subway).

A hot dog stand in a gas station isn't going to make a big impact one way or another on the neighborhood. Maybe if the South Loop were a one-light town in rural downstate Illinois, this would be big news. Lucky for us, we have a little bit more going on here. Or do we?

Hooray, another place to acquire food made from anuses and nitrates... a healthy gas station, nonetheless! (Hot dog eaters, do not kid yourselves. Veganism IS your best option.)

yeah lets stop kidding ourself that a hot dog stand is a game changer either way. imo its exactly what should be going into a bp. what you want ? thomas keller? ITS A GAS STATION

Who in their right mind would purchase and eat food from a gas station?!?! Disgusting.

I rank this right up there with the friend chicken buffet @ Jewel.

as much as i like this blog and the info it provides, the thinly veiled racism in the comment section makes it hard to believe i live in this neighborhood.

for those i've offended, you live in a racially mixed community. and yes. the red line does stop here. the red line also stops in lincoln park. are those who get off in lincoln park trash too?

if you don't like it, pack up and move somewhere. here's guessing you will complain about something once you get there.

Ok...this comment thread is done.

Hot Dogs coming to BP. End of Story.

Isn't this the same franchise that is at Navy Pier? It seems to be the car wash that attracts the street people at the BP. Bring on the food options.
