18th Street El Stop Preferred

  1. of course 18th is preferred. but the politico's don't give a sloop about the residents. If it goes at all, it will go down on Cermak to prop Motor Row.

  3. I'd go with 18th for the Orange line and Cermak for the Green. They could put entrances at 18th street within view of the 1st district police station desk 24/7.

  4. Regarding riff raff. I feel if there is no bus transportation going West from 18th, you will not get get any goofballs at an 18th stop. Cermak - yes, you will, but even heading West - is not as bad as the areas that head West on Roosevelt. Follow these two streets heading West on a map.

  5. Public Transportation is all riff raft... ban the CTA until they can control their users...
    Until that happens, continue use your car - only if it's made in America!!!


    Providing a stop at Cermack is inevetable and should be completed immediately, especially since there was a stop there a long time ago... an 18th St. Stop will come 10 years later...

  7. I'm okay if my opinion doesn't take. I call em like I see em, and try to provide helpful thoughts for the community.

    Another benefit for an 18th street station (either Green or Orange) is that the CPD's mass transit section is based out of 18th street. Right now they drive to get go and from train stations (true!). Would be nice to see a steady stream of uniformed police officers getting on and off trains at 18th street.

    leave it at cermak and spend $$$ on more important matters. 18th stop would be a very stupid idea.

  12. it's beyond me why the 18th street crowd would want a green line station rather than an orange line station -- they both would go downtown, but where do most people who live near 18th/state go more often the other way on transit -- midway airport or towards 63rd street? seems like an orange line stop would be the more beneficial of the two.

  13. Anyone that's been on top of this topic for the past few years knows an orange line stop isn't feasible at 18th or 16th because of the tracks.

  14. The Red Line Cermak stop is LITERALLY a 5-Minute walk away from Wabash and Cermak. I have no idea why anyone thinks a Wabash and Cermak stop makes any sense in light of that. Are there a lot of people coming from the south via the Orange Line clamoring for a stop at Cermak? If not, this is duplicate service and a big waste of money.

  15. Red Line Chinatown to McCormick place is another 2-3 blocks from State, so when added up, it is about 6 blocks. A green line at Cermak with additional entrance at 23rd makes it 1.5 half blocks. Also, this will beneficial for business like Reggies or the now defunct Cuatro, Room 21 as a Cermak stop is right there.

  16. who cares about the El?? Its public transportation....let it go

    Those trains tend to be used by derelicts and poor people, its not for OUR classy rich neighborhood.

    Again...lets review---

    Trains are for poor people, theives, hipster poor kids that contribute nothing to society, and black bums that commit crimes. Sorry but its true----lets take it real easy on wanting moreof these hubs around the neighborhood.
