Well here we are...Monday, October 3rd!
Amazingly it's been over three, enjoyable years of bringing Sloopin to you (see our first post from September 27th, 2008). Through the years there have been some highs (see post "November 4th Revisted") and lows (which we don't really need to discuss right now). Anyway, just wanted to pause and say thanks to all the readers of Sloopin.
As we've said before, you make this worthwhile and enjoyable. Thanks for all your tips, pictures and comments...keep them coming.
One more thing to note. We had a minor redesign to the site last week. It seems to have gone down without a problem. If you notice something let us know. Hope everyone enjoys some of the minor improvements.
Best Regards,
Sloopin Crew
Thanks for all YOU do Sloopin! Your blog helps me feel like I'm part of a community instead of just in a big city. Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteI may not comment often, or more than 1X really, but I truely enjoy this blog and the work the Sloopin' team puts into it. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Since you brought up the issue of technical stuff, I thought I should mention a couple things I've noticed:
ReplyDelete1. Going to http://sloopin.com takes you to an "under construction" page - you can fix this by setting the "A Record" with your hosting company.
2. The page is unreadable on Android tablets because something causes the Google Calendar widget to go haywire (it starts looping through dates), causing the page to flash on and off.
3. The page has so much direct-linked content that it takes longer to load than it should. It would probably help to host images in one place, rather than linking to the original source websites.
I visit this site everyday, just as I do the Onion, WSJ and wine.woot. Always informative, always worth my time.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your perseverance.
Great stuff as always. Appreciate your dedication and perserverance. This is my "go to" site for all stuff sloopin.
ReplyDeleteI love sloopin! Thanks for doing such a great job.
ReplyDeleteI do have to say that I liked the old format better. I am not super techy, so I can't describe the specifics of why but I know when I would open sloopin before it looked and felt nicer and more present then it does now. This format seems "quieter" somehow-maybe smaller font, smaller pics,-it does not draw me in as much
as a new neighbor to the area, your website helps me stay informed! I read it everyday! best of all...it is free! :) THANK YOU
ReplyDeleteYeah, great work here. And I love the redesign/facelift.
ReplyDeleteI'd love for Sloopin to step out from behind the computer and do some partnering at events in the area...non-financial partnering, just slap the name on events, etc.
thanks for your hard work!! i ve been checking the website daily for the past two years and don't know what i would do without it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary. I'm a daily reader also--thanks for all you do. You have the patience of Job...(of course my Biblical knowledge is limited--so am not sure how much patience Job actually had).
ReplyDeleteThank you for your hard work! I read sloopin everyday and love it.
ReplyDeleteThis is among my every day checks as well. Thanks for doing what you do. (Now fix the problem where I have to type in www. :) )
ReplyDeleteI learned about this site through my newly-transplanted-to-Chicago boyfriend (yeah...his comment is above) despite the fact that I'm fairly internet savvy and have lived in the neighborhood for years (and my parents have lived here 10 years longer than I have). I've seen great pictures and found out about events I never would have otherwise, along with hearing some interesting gossip about different businesses in the area. I only wonder how you can promote the site to the many, many folk who would be really interested, but simply don't know that it exists.
