Upon strolling down South State street recently, we noticed a new barber salon called, Victory Barber Salon, next door to Cafe Bionda (1926 South State street).
We don't have many details and didn't find much on the interwebs, but if anyone has additional dish please share.
The retail at this building (or at least the retail on State street) seem to be doing well since all the storefronts are going to be utilized. Besides this new barber shop, it appears Lakeside Grocery (which we don't remember being there) is open and the Burger Point will be opening soon (see here for old Sloopin post).
Lakeside Grocery has been there almost a year now. Not sure about this Victory place as they say barber and salon. Interesting to see what the place looks like when opened.
ReplyDeletethanks for the tip about the Grocery.... didn't know that.
ReplyDeleteHowever, how many barbers / hair salons do we need in 4 block radius? There are two right at 1529 S. State, and I saw another one opening on 16th or Wabash not too long ago....
This was a nail sal on a couple months ago.
ReplyDeleteFunny the barber shop two doors doen just closed as well.
We don't need any more barber/salons around here. Where are he/she customers going to come from?
ReplyDeleteThere are too many tax breaks given to "certain" businesses. As a result, you see too many barber shops and other failed business models. This also allows other small businesses that are horrible with no customers to stay afloat much longer than they normally would. Let's be honest we all know of certain places that we are all shocked are still open
ReplyDeleteThe "in construction" signs for this new barber shop have been up for about a month. It will be interesting to see how this place does. Glad to see the retail in the building almost all full though.
ReplyDeleteI have a ponytail...

lol. that is so true, and of course the landlord isn't going to turn down a prospective tenant in this economy.
It seems that Victory Barber Salon is now open and it appears they have a nice salon. I love the upscale atmosphere and they have a very professional staff. I recieved one of the best hot towel shaves I have had in a while. I think they are here to stay!
