The blog Eater Chicago had a informative post about Tribute, the new restaurant opening at 800 S. Michigan Ave. within the Essex Hotel. We've covered the progress of this restaurant closely and are glad to hear they have a specific date they're aiming to open on...June 21st.
There was some concern around the neighborhood when news came out that executive chef Brandon Baltzley was no longer working on the project. Regardless, it's good to hear that this is moving forward.
Beyond the opening date, the Eater Chicago post also shares a link to a menu (albeit it's tough to read). Definitely some interesting ingredients.
Finally, if you've walked by the restaurant you've probably noticed the construction but for those of you who haven't, here are a couple pics from their facebook page:

I'm going to Tribute the night they open, but when is the SCOUT OPENING?
ReplyDeleteMenu looks decent
ReplyDeleteI give Tribute 1-2 years be fore we are talking about something new taking over the space. The anticipation is for Scout any news of a grand opening date?
ReplyDeleteSome of the build-outs of these new places look nice. Another new place, Pita Heaven took off he coverings on their front windows and the space looks great too.
ReplyDeleteWow, nice negative comment there June 3rd anonymous commenter. Way to support South Loop/Chicago growth! How about giving it a chance before writing it off? Can't be easy to venture something new in this economy. Menu does look interesting. Will definitely check it out! Best of luck to Tribute!
ReplyDeleteThe Pita Heaven space looks great, but the menu is weird as hell. Seems very ambitious. Pork? At a pita place? All sorts of fish/seafood? I am hopeful for their success, but not optimistic.
ReplyDeletePita place is owned/operated by a total douche who works in sales for Frankle & Giles and has zero restaurant experience. Many of you know exactly who I am talking about. He is also the guy opening the restaurant @ 1400 south michigan. Both of these "projects" are massive disasters waiting to happen.
ReplyDeleteWhat restaurant at 1400 S Michigan?
