The Burger Point is the New Joint at Corner of State & Archer

A reader writes:

Thought this might be of interest to the readers. Took this picture this morning while walking by. It's the corner building at State and Archer (1900 S. State) that used to house the short-lived Kutting Edge Kidz haircut place.

We did some internet searching, but couldn't find much about this place. Good to see more stuff coming to the South end of the Sloop.

Update: Thanks to a commenter, the facebook page and website have been found.

On behalf of all of the residents of The Columbian (NW corner of Roosevelt and Michigan), I'd like to extend a "thank you" to all of the "usual suspects" lined up for the westbound #12 Bus for decorating our building once again this weekend. It's always so nice to wake up every Monday morning in the summer to find the southern exterior wall of our building covered in gang tagging. Thanks neighbors!

I'm glad to see this. Personally I find epic burger vile.

Tagging at 18th and state as well
Bold move RIGHT across from the police station!
Summer in the city and lack of curfew enforcement.
What's the alderman up to anyway??

Epic Burger WAS a great place. However, once it became a "hit" and was able to expand to the north side, the quality management people and employees headed to the Lincoln Park location and left the south loop location to be run by a bunch of Columbia and Robert Morris students.

Can you create an open thread so anon has a proper echo chamber for his routine graffiti comments?

Speaking of south end of the sloop, reggies now has a rooftop bar area, and it's pretty sweet, esp on these summer nts.

Burger Pointe - Will you have sidewalk seating? I am looking forward to the opening!! Also, will you have a Twitter account? I don't use facebook.

Hopefully this place will be good! Looking forward to more quick and cheaper places to eat! I hate to be negative, but hopefully the menu will sound better than Pita Heaven. Was really looking forward to it, but doesn't sound that great and seems pretty amateurish. No lamb? No falafel? Sorry for a mini rant as I realize that it hasn't even opened yet. Still going to try it.

I can say that I personally have had an early test sampling of the wings, and they were delicious. there is an art to making good wings believe it or not, and the owner knows what he's doing when it comes to good food. Looking forward to the burgers and rest of the food!

Thank you well-wishers and ranters! Love the comments! To answer your questions, yes we too desperately wanted outdoor seating but because the configuration of the corner, we have decided against it...for now! But ya never know....
And anonymous commenter #2, although we were trying to avoid the twitter, we obviously needed to join this century, and create an account. Follow us @theburgerpt

If you open early and sell good coffee it will sell.

Get on groupon now like Cafe Bionda which is always busy.

Great to have a burger restaurant close to my house. What type of hours will you have?

Three words of advice: service, quality, and Groupon. At that location, if you are missing any one of those three, you will fail.

I've seen two business fail there thus far, a coffee shop and the haircut place.

Make sure your hours are set to accommodate the hood. You need to open later like Bionda and Opart, and you need to sell (good) coffee to the commuters taking buses right in front of your door (two) and the CTA train for visibility. You need to open on the weekends later (duh), which the previous businesses did not do. Mid-day and weekday foot traffic will not sustain your business. Lastly, make sure you have a good take-out process as I know loads of people in the hood get take outs rather than sitting down from Bionda, Opart and Subway for various reasons.

That's really too bad you don't have sidewalk sitting, it'd bring much more sustained foot traffic and visibility.

Why does everyone keep telling them they need to sell coffee? It's a burger joint; it's not a coffee shop. Seems like a bad business idea to me to have to pay someone to work odd hours just to sell $1 cups of coffee. Sell good food, have good service, and people will come.
