Wow Bao is asking fans on their Facebook page where they should open another location.Wouldn't it be great if we could get one in the South Loop? The have one of my all time favorite breakfasts (a rice bowl with eggs, bacon and spinach) and Intelligentsia coffee. They also have great dinners and treats and would be the ideal less expensive fare for college students and condo owners alike! Please get people on board!
Here is the link so help represent the Sloop. We like the restaurant's Asian buns and it would definitely be a great addition to the hood. Our friends at Uptown Update already have their readers voting, so hurry up and vote!
(Hat tip: RT!)
There's one on Van Buren and Financial. Maybe not close to all of the South Loop, but certainly closer to me than locations further South.
ReplyDeleteThere is an empty space near epic burger. Then they could get students and loop workers.
ReplyDeleteUm, there are "empty spaces" ALL OVER this neighborhood!!
ReplyDeleteIn light of the fact that most people on this board consider Van Buren and Financial to be in the Sloop, I guess we already have a Bao.
Chinatown? Bueller?
ReplyDeleteDim Sum @ Phoenix destroys Wow Bao.
Damn Facebook. Would vote if I could.
ReplyDeleteLittle bit of a difference between Wow Bao and Phoenix. Fast food vs sit down. I'd love to see a Wow Bao in the South Loop even though I'm not far from Chinatown. Love their spicy peanut noodles. Come to S. Michigan!
ReplyDeleteWho considers Van Buren to be in the South Loop? Farthest North boundary I've seen talked about is Congress.
ReplyDeleteSpace near Epic Burger is way too close to this existing location.
check out the bakeries in Chinatown. you'd you surprised at what kind of bao $1 can get you. although seeing a wow bao would be neat (or anyting for that matter), not sure how well it would do. a bar would do better.
ReplyDeleteReally? Wow Bao? Dough balls with a little scoop of filler... not my idea of food. Chinatown has way too many better options.
ReplyDeleteHow about an Itallian Beef/Vienna chardog/Polish joint?
Might be surprised how well it does. The one in the North part of the Loop is always busy when I stop by. One morning I stopped in to find a line of 8-10 people waiting for the doors to open.
ReplyDeleteThere have been numerous threads and posts regarding TLC cafe on this board recently, which is located at 400 south wabash. If that is considered part of the south loop (which it must be since it has been featured on this site), then so is Van Buren and Financial.
ReplyDeleteWhy are some people so hung up on the South Loop border issue? What does it really matter? Regardless of the borders of this neighborhood, I think we can all agree, that if you live here and read this blog, you are probably concerned about what is going on in AND AROUND the south loop. So seriously, can we drop the stupid border issue that comes up every time Sloopin' talks about a business north of Congress (or south of Cermak for that matter)?
ReplyDeleteI agree.
ReplyDeleteAnon May 4, 2011 2:00 PM.....completely agree!!!!!
ReplyDeletewow bao is not bad for fast food. but if you really like asian buns try feida bakery, 2228 s wentworth in chinatown. earlier in the day is better as they sell out sometimes. excellent bbq pork steamed buns, other varieties, and big homemade shumai too! and cheap!
