We've had a couple of posts about the recently opened Monkey Bar Gym (2255 S. Michigan), but to be honest we've never really been able to wrap our head around what it truly is. After watching these videos via WGN, we have a better sense: The idea of working out like nature intended (not by isolating muscles with machines) is an interesting concept. Maybe we will have to try it out sometime. Has anyone been there? How did it go? (Hat tip: SoloMotorRow)

I've walked by a couple times, and I've never seen them using the equipment. It's just been floor and partner exercises.
I am currently a member and can recommend MBG. The classes they offer are really intense and fun, when they don't involve kettle bells :) I am thinking about doing their 30 day challenge in May. Membership is a little pricey but I think it is worth it given the people that I have met and the team atmosphere. It's a lot cheaper then personal training and just as effective in my opinion.
I have been a member since it opened. I did the 60 day challenge which ends next week. I have lost 14 pounds and feel so much better. I was at the point where running and going to the traditional gym did not excite me too much and the weight was going up as a result. I needed a kick start and this place has done it. I am finishing up the 60 day challenge and then doing a year membership for sure!
Joining MBG is the best thing that has happened to me! Being from a team sports mindset, I am used to working out with a team, the group aspect here really works for a full hour of intense exercise. Their system of "no machines, no mirrors and no shoes" has brought my body back in a way that I actually enjoy. The exercises feel natural and you are affecting more than a single group as you would with machines. I am working muscles that I would never effect in a traditional gym. My wife is a physical therapist and she is sending patients there for post-therapy. I suffered 3 back injuries and this is strengthening my core to where I no longer need a back brace. I am so happy that I can exercise like the monkeys do, it really works!

this is such a scam. why pay money for "nature" exercises when you can run, jump and climb outside.
don't be a sucker.

Come try it out before you call it a "scam" Jennymatt. Free intro class Sat. mornings. I would be interested in what you say after you try it.
Just started the 30 Day Challenge. Really excited to achieve results and lose some serious lbs!
