So we know Mayor Daley lives in the Sloop and today we read that Juwan Howard owns a townhouse in the neighborhood as well. (for those who don't know Juwan Howard he is a Chicago native who's an NBA veteran and part of the famous Fab Five recruiting class at Michigan back in 1992). We will concede that neither of these people are that exciting, but we were curious if anyone knew of any athletes or celebrities that live in our hood? Maybe a Bears player or a Bulls player?
Hey, Howard was pretty cool/exciting/somewhat big name in the NBA a few years back... when I followed the NBA.
ReplyDeleteNot sure who actually owns the townhouse, but Eddy Curry had a girlfiend who lived here....
ReplyDeleteOh.. never mind....
When I first moved to Printer's Row in the early 1990's, Danny Bonaduce lived in my building at 124 W. Polk.
ReplyDeleteNick Swisher USED to live in the SLoop, but he rented and since he's no longer with the White Sox, he's no longer in our hood. I think he lived round-abouts the 16th/17th and Prairie area.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure a Bears player or two lives down here too, but that's about as specific as my knowledge on that one gets.
ReplyDeleteKen Griffey Jr. had a place down here last year when he played for the White Sox, somewhere around 18th & Indiana. He use to frequent Triad Sushi Lounge.
ReplyDeleteI think celeb chef Rick Bayless may live down here.
ReplyDeleteI used to see him grabbing coffee to go at Gourmond all the time.
You would hope that Rick Bayless would open a restaurant in the south loop SOON !
ReplyDeleteIf Bayless wanted a South Loop location, he'd already be here.
ReplyDeleteHe just opened his third local eatery, Xoco, in River North.
Ken William of the Chicago White Sox owns a town home in University Village. I've seen him a few times.
ReplyDeleteI wish Ken Williams would open
ReplyDeletea sports bar on Motor Row (between 22nd & 26th) where people going
to the Sox game can go, park & get
shuttled to game.. for example.
Larry Hughes (formerly Bulls) lived at Sky55 while I lived there, but he moved to New York, and so did I :)
ReplyDeleteI saw Maurice Cheeks (former NBA player, current OK City assistant) in my building lobby this past summer. I asked the front desk what he was doing here, they said he owned a unit. This is Museum Park Place north by the way.
ReplyDeleteThe International Spelling Bee Champion, FGFM, resides in the sloop. Although he is rarely seen because he is sitting inside on the computer all day correcting spelling errors and accusing people of racism.
ReplyDeleteMark Giangreco (ABC 7 news anchor) buys condo in One Museum Park Place West.

ReplyDeleteYou forgot to mention that I was a member of the Truman College Honor Society.
