A couple of months ago we mentioned that funds from the 2009 recovery and reinvestment act were slated for the Sloop. Last week, one of these projects ('C' on the map) got underway as the road from Michigan Avenue to Balbo was torn up and recently repaved.
It looks much smoother and better. It still needs to be painted, but after that we think this stretch will be complete. After that, it looks like a similar process will get underway between Balbo and Congress.
In other stimulus news, we recently drove by the Harold Ickes homes (section 'A' on the map) and many of the building are completely down.

It's pretty pathetic when special federal funds are needed in order for this city to maintain some of our most major streets.
Congress has been a complete disaster since late last year but looks like it might be addressed next.
