I went to check it out. There are certainly some items that are overpriced (cereal, pasta) but veggies looked really good and pretty much the same cost as Jewel. They did have a WIDE variety of "non-standard" beer!!
the items in this store are surprisingly very similiarily priced to jewel. of course you're gonna save a few cents here and there at jewel, but i didnt notice any glaring difference that would make me walk the extra blocks to walk there. Plus the owners seem very cool, 2 brothers run the place. Lets support the little guys and help the neighborhood grow!
We went by recently and was impressed by the place. Similar to the other posters it wasn't that much more expensive...however it still was more expensive.
However, if you hit up sky you won't have to deal with the craziness that is Jewell. In my opinion I would pay 50 cents more for a box of cereal if I don't have to wait in line or get run over by a lady who is pushing her cart like a bat out of hell.
Actually, Jewel is crowded. The lines are long and you will get run over by carts if you don't watch yourself since it's hard for people to maneuver around crowded aisles.
Sky grocer is a little over priced. I paid 7 dollars for a bottle of advil that had 24 pills only. Their sandwiches are small and are like 7 dollars. Why would I get a sandwich from there when Panozzos, is right next door and has one of the best sandwiches, if not the best sandwich in all of chicago. With that being said, they do have a solid beer selection, and it is priced well, the bread is from labriola, which is awesome bread. But yea , majority of the items are over priced and Id rather walk over to jewel and deal with the horrible crowds, horrible service, and long lines for items that I can get for 2-4 dollars cheaper. I also want to reiterate that I hate the south loop jewel.

Questions I have:
1. Is it overpriced? That is, how much of a "convenience" fee are you paying.
2. Is the produce simply organic or local?
3. Do they have fresh bread, if so where is it from?

Be careful - if you complain @ all about Jewel, you're a racist.
