The Chicago Journal found this press release from the CTA that says that $12.5 million from the federal stimulus program has been set aside to rebuild the Cermak-Chinatown station on the Red Line.
Good news for Chinatown and the far south side of the Sloop!

That's good since it was totally destroyed a few years ago by that tractor trailer. I wonder if they'll put an Archer entrance/exit.
I e-mailed the CTA about an entrance/exit on Archer and got the response below. Looks like there will be one constructed.
Thank you for your inquiry.
Current plans include building a new auxiliary entrance on Archer.
We appreciate your comments and thank you for riding the CTA.
CTA FEEDBACK TEAM
What a waste of money. The south exit @ the Roosevelt stop (the one utterly completely consumed by urine and bird feces) should be rehabbed before anything is done at the comparatively vacant Chinatown stop.
Not likely they will do much with the Roosevelt station anytime soon considering it opened in the early 1990’s along with the Orange line, and they just opened the transfer tunnel a few years ago.
The CTA needs to spend more resources on routine maintenance and cleaning of stations – a good power washing every month to wash all the piss away wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Once I was at the Quincy/Wells station and this guy walks out of a Purple Line Train. He walks over to near the edge of the platform by the silver podiums. Then I hear water splashing, but it wasn't raining. The guy was pissing on the platform! So, if you're ever walking under the el tracks and you hear water dripping on you... do not assume it’s rain especially when it's not raining.
I don't know what's worse...the piss on the platforms or the piss in the trains..
Hi troll. Is this you peeing all over sloopin, troll?
The CTA could spend their entire budget washing up pee and it would still be a problem.
